10 cases, 14 innocents murdered in their homes

ROME -- A man has been arrested in connection with a double slaying in Rome following a manhunt that locked down neighborhoods of Rome Tuesday morning.

Police say 22-year-old Stephanie I. Morrison, of Rome, was found dead and 31-year-old Shawn P. Kessler, of Camden, was found fatally injured inside a home at 319 Myrtle Street. Police have not said how they died.

The suspect was later identified 26-year-old Aaron J. Welch Sr. Welch is from Schenectady but is known to Rome Police for some minor offenses.

KENMORE, N.Y. (WKBW) - Kenmore police say an arrest has been made in the homicide of Malone's owner James Cottone.

19-year-old Antonio Martin Brown was arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection to Cottone's death.

Cottone was found dead of apparent blunt force trauma at 21 Landers Road on May 19th. Neighbors say Cottone moved to the neighborhood a few years ago. .....

CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County Coroner has released the name of the two elderly victims killed in their home Thursday night in Clinton.

According to Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart, the victims were Arthur Hodge, 89, and his 86-year-old wife Maxine Hodge. Stewart confirms both victims were stabbed and Arthur Hodge suffered blunt force trauma.

Clinton police are investigating the double murder of the couple who lived in a home at 500 Brookwood drive. 

Mike Warren, the interim police chief for the Clinton Police Department, says Willie Williams Jr., 47, of Clinton, is in custody in connection to the murders. ........

 The murder suspect knew the couple and may have done odd jobs for them from time to time.

 Warren confirms it is now believed that the relationship between the victims and suspect had been off and on for several years. Williams had performed some work in the past but over the last year, had not worked, but had borrowed money from the victims.

In the spring of 2003, French-born Atlanta restaurateur Guy Luck met with a DeKalb County detective regarding a recent burglary at his home. The suspect, 19-year-old Rejon Taylor, had been caught trying to buy high-end electronics with a credit card obtained in someone else's name. Back at Taylor's apartment, investigators discovered 40 more credit cards in that person's name — as well as a briefcase and checks that belonged to another of his apparent victims, Luck (pronounced LUKE).

The detective asked Luck if he wanted to press charges. He did. Little did he know that his decision would cost him his life – and set into motion a chain of events that culminated in a federal death penalty trial that opened in Chattanooga last week.

   For two years, the trio was believed to have targeted upscale homes in and around Buckhead, first stealing mail to obtain credit cards, and later venturing inside the houses – some of them repeatedly.

The jury will be selected in Lafayette for the five men charged with killing a Gonzales couple and their son in a home invasion in February 2012.

According to a ruling by Judge Alvin Turner, the trial will happen in Gonzales. District Attorney Ricky Babin says 36-year-old Michael Aikens will go on trial first September 30, 2013.

Michael Aikens, Bernard James, Devon James, Travis Moore and Rolondo Stewart are accused in the 2012 slayings of Robert Marchand, 74; his wife, Shirley, 72; and her son, Douglas Dooley, 50. 

Investigators said they were all found with their throats slashed.....

 

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man has been charged for the murder of a Charlotte woman found dead by her family Thursday.

Dorothy C. Gregg, 88, was pronounced dead when medics arrived to her home in the 3800 block of Plainview Road around 7:30 p.m.

Homicide detectives charged Robert Maurice Nixon, 44, for her murder Sunday, along with breaking and entering, financial transaction card theft and unauthorized use of a financial card. Police say Nixon knew the victim.....
